Aspiring writers and poets can choose from five master classes at the 13th annual SC Book Festival February 27-28 and March 1 in Columbia. All classes will be held Friday, February 27 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Classes from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. include “Five Useful Things You Can Learn About Writing in Ninety Minutes,” ($25) with Richard Goodman, author of The Soul of Creative Writing and “Starting a Book Collection” ($15) lead by members of the Antiquarian Book Dealer’s Association of South Carolina. From 1:30-3 there will be classes on “Memoirs: Becoming a Memory Keeper” ($25) with author Jackie Cooper; “An Introduction to Technical Writing” ($25) with Karen Baranich, member of the Society for Technical Communication and “Tips of the Trade: The Secrets of Successful Book Promotion and Marketing” ($25) with instructor Amy Hess, director of the leading book publicity firm, Planned Television Arts.
Pre-registration is strongly recommended as space is limited.
The 13th annual SC Book Festival will be held February 27-28 and March 1 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. More than 75 authors and poets will be attending the festival including Scott Turow, Fritz Hollings, Ron Rash, Beverly Jenkins, Mary Alice Monroe, Tiffany L. Warren and many others. Admission Saturday and Sunday is free. Special ticketed events include Friday master writing classes, the opening night reception and Brunching with Authors Sunday morning.
