Lady Cobras Get Decisive Win Over Columbia

Hartsville, SC -- The Coker Women's Tennis Team improved their record to 2-1 after a dominating 9-0 win against Columbia College Sunday. The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams quickly clinched two wins with Rachel Lemar (London, England) and Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, SC) defeating Ospira/Francis 8-1 and the No. 2 doubles team of Ashley Pace (Clinton, SC) and Stephanie Medley (Sumter, SC) defeating Brown/Hall 8-1. The No. 3 doubles team of Cassidy Spencer (Wilkesboro, NC) and Lindsay Crighton (Florence, SC) fought a well won match defeating Stevenson/Yeager 8-6.

The Lady Cobras continued their momentum by taking all six singles matches without dropping a set. Playing No. 2 Blanchard defeated Hall 6-0, 6-0. Spencer and Medley defeated each of their opponents at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively 6-0, 6-1. Pace defeated Brown at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3 while teammate Crighton defeated her opponent at the No. 6 spot 6-0, 6-2. The most competitive match of the day came at No. 1 with Lemar defeating Ospire 6-4, 6-2.

The Lady Cobras take the court again at home on Saturday, February 21, at 2:00 p.m. The Lady Cobras will host conference rival Lees-McRae College to hopefully improve their conference record to 2-0.
