Patriots take to Diamonds ; Softball holds Lil’ Patriots Day

FLORENCE, SC – Both the Francis Marion University baseball and softball teams will host games on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 21-22).

The unbeaten and fifth-ranked FMU softball team (9-0) will celebrate Lil' Patriots Day on Saturday when the squad hosts Mount Olive College for a doubleheader at noon. Admission is free.

All area youth softball players are invited to attend the game. The first 10 young ladies that sign up at the FMU Softball Field prior to 11:45 a.m. will get to run onto the field with the Patriot starting lineup for the team introductions and the playing of the national anthem.

All young ladies that attend the game will receive a coupon for a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich or shake, at the South Irby Street franchise.

The Patriots will also play host to Fayetteville State University on Sunday at noon.

The FMU baseball team (6-3-1) will open its Peach Belt Conference schedule this weekend with a three-game series against UNC Pembroke (9-2) on Cormell Field.

The series will consist of a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students.
