PEMBROKE, NC - Seniors Crayton Jones and Houston Power produced identical 14-point, 6-rebound performances to lead Francis Marion University to a 59-54 Peach Belt Conference road win over UNC Pembroke, Wednesday night (Feb. 11) in men's basketball action.
FMU ups its overall record to 14-7 and evens its PBC mark at 7-7.
Senior Cortez Brown led UNCP (5-17, 2-13) with 15 points.
The game was tied 31-31 at halftime, and with one minute remaining, Francis Marion held a slim 51-50 advantage. However, the Patriots made 8-of-10 free throws in that final minute to secure the win. Jones had four of the charity tosses, while Power's two free throws with two seconds left sealed the victory.
The Patriots connected on only 7-of-20 second-half field goal attempts, but were 14-of-19 at the stripe over the final 20 minutes and 21-of-29 for the game.
FMU will play host to Columbus State University for Homecoming, Saturday at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WWFN-FM, 100.1 The Fan.
