Crusaders Down Lady Cobras 68-56

Belmont, N.C. - In a game full of turnovers and fouls, Belmont Abbey won the scrappy battle with the Coker Lady Cobras for a 68-56 win Conference Carolinas women's basketball on Saturday afternoon.

The Abbey (8-4, 6-1 Conf. Carolinas) committed a astonishing 31 turnovers in the game, while going to the foul line 24 times, while Coker (4-8, 3-4 Conf. Carolinas) had 22 turnovers and had 23 chances from the free throw line.

Belmont Abbey dominated the boards, grabbing 49 total rebounds compared to the Lady Cobras 26.

Leading the Crusader attack was Shayla Jackson (Knoxville, TN) with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Asha Hardaway (Greensboro, NC) also had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Kelsey Daniel was the third Crusader in double figures with 10 points and eight rebounds.

For Coker, Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland) had a game high 18 points with five rebounds, while Kiesha Beavers (Williamstown, NJ) had another big game off the bench with 12 points.

Coker returns to the floor on Monday, as they travel to Anderson University for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off, while Belmont Abbey's next game is on Thursday as they host Limestone.
