Hartsville - Cobra Men's Basketball team snapped their three game losing streak on Thursday with a 67-59 win over the Erskine College Flying Fleet. Coker (7-8, 3-5 Conf. Carolinas) was able to use some clutch free throw shoot down the stretch, along with some key defensive stops to secure the win over Erskine (5-10, 4-5 Conf. Carolinas).
Coker's clutch shooting from the line amounted to shooting 80 percent from the charity stripe, while the Fleet shot just 68.4 percent. The Cobras also outshot the Fleet from beyond the arc and from the floor, 41.2 percent to 21.4 percent from 3-point range and 48 percent to 37 percent from the field.
Vatrick Thompson (Columbia, SC) led the Cobras with 15 points, while Josh Poston (Myrtle Beach, SC) had 11 points and eight rebounds. Lukas Varga (Pawley's Island, SC), Mason Ambler (Atlanta, GA) and JC Hafner (Jefferson, MD) all had eight points for Coker.
For Erskine, Brandon Wright had a game high 17 points with four rebounds, while Dejan Nedelkovski had 14 points and Nick Riley had 13 points.
Coker will host Lees-McRae on Saturday in their next game.
