South Carolina Optometric Association Names President

The South Carolina Optometric Association (SCOA), comprised of nearly 300 optometrists in South Carolina, has named Dr. Ed Lemon as the 2009 president and has appointed Drs. Michelle Reeves, Benji Ingram and Sean Stevens to the Board of Directors.

Dr. Lemon, president, has been a member of the South Carolina Optometric Association for 25 years and is a past trustee of the board. He is currently in private practice and has served as the mayor of Barnwell for the past 11 years. A graduate of the Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Lemon resides in Barnwell.

Dr. Reeves, secretary and treasurer, is a past president of the South Carolina Optometric Association and a past president of the Piedmont Optometric Society. Dr. Reeves graduated Cum Laude from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and has been practicing privately in Greenville for the past 15 years. She currently resides in Greer.

Dr. Ingram, director, is owner of Ingram Comprehensive Eye Care, P.A. He has been involved with the South Carolina Optometric Association since 2004. In 2005, he served as treasurer of the Midlands Optometric Society, before serving as vice president in 2006 and as president in 2007. Dr. Ingram is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He currently resides in Columbia.

Dr. Stevens, director, practices at Hillcrest Eyecare in Simpsonville. He has been involved with the South Carolina Optometric Association since 2003 and previously served as vice president of the Piedmont Area Optometric Society. Dr. Stevens is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Optometry in Birmingham. He currently resides in Simpsonville.

Returning board members include Dr. Peter Candela of Blythewood, immediate past president; Dr. Lori Donovan of Mt. Pleasant, vice president; Dr. Phillip Flynn, IV, of Lexington; Dr. Melissa Schwebach of Fort Mill; and Dr. James Vaught of Conway, president-elect.
