Charlotte, N.C. - After a tough loss at Limestone on Saturday, the Cobra men's tennis team hoped to receive their first conference win. However, they fell short as the Royals of Queens University took the win 7-2.

Queens University took an early lead as they won all three doubles matches. Coker battled tough as Esteban Terran (Ecuador) and Juan Vallejo-Gonzalez (Ecuador) lost 8-4 at the No. 1 position and Jeremiah Dye (Summerville, SC) and Mark Vial (Australia) lost 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. The closest doubles match came at No. 3 as Evan Schreiner (Seneca, SC) and Andrew Chinnes (Hemmingway, SC) were defeated 8-5.

In singles action, Vallejo-Gonzalez easily defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Vial went toe to toe with his opponent yet came up short with the score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot, while Schreiner had the second win of the day at the No. 5 spot as he was victorious with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-2 win in the third set. After coming off his win yesterday, Chinnes played well and took it to a third set tiebreak, yet could not finish it off losing 6-4, 5-7, 10-4.

The Cobras will take the court again at home on Tuesday, April 7 at 2:00pm. They hope to take their first conference win against Barton College and a birth in the conference tournament.
