Hartsville, S.C. - Coker College is set to host the 2009 Conference Carolinas softball tournament, April 17-19 at Byerly Park in Hartsville. The tournament will get started with some pre-tourney festivities on Thursday, April 16, at 6:00 p.m. including a team banquet and awards ceremony, followed by the first ever Line Drive Contest.
In the Line Drive Contest one player from each team will get 10 swings to try and hit as many line drives as possible, while collecting points for hitting balls to specific areas of the field. A team of three judges will determine whether or not the hit is a line drive. The player with the highest point total at the end of the competition will be declared the Line Drive Champion.
After Thursday night's fun and festivities, it is time to get down to the softball action starting Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. Games will be played on field #2 and field #4 at Byerly Park with game times at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Games will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday's games start at 11:00 a.m.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate, cost of a one day pass is $5 for adults, $4 for students, children six and under get in free and Conference Carolinas school students may purchase a pass for $2 with valid student ID.
