GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Coker College combined to shoot an invitational-record score of 275 on Sunday at Link Hills Country Club to win the 16th annual Tusculum Men's Golf Invitational with a two-day score of 564, breaking the 36-hole invitational record by 15 strokes at Link Hills Country Club on Sunday.
A total of four teams posted a two-day score lower than the previous Invitational 36-hole record of 579, set by Tusculum at the 2006 event. Coker finished the weekend with a four-under-par score of 564 as Chris Marsh (Georgetown, SC) captured the individual title for the Cobras with a two-day total of 138 (-4). Coker's Jimmy Gillam (Tyrone, PA) had the low round of the day with a 66, tying the 18-hole individual invitational record.
Limestone College, the overall leader after day one, finished second with a two-day score of 570. Tusculum (574), Grand Valley State University (577) and Lincoln Memorial University (580) rounded out the top five. Spartanburg Methodist (593) finished sixth, followed by Brevard (594), Walters State (596), Mars Hill (596), Montevallo (600), Lenior-Rhyne (609), Tusculum Black (612), Tri-County (615), Tiffin (622), and USC Lancaster (630).
Behind Marsh and Gillam were John LaDow (Pottstown, PA) in sixth place with a two day total of 141 (-1), with Jared Crane (Greenville, SC) in 17th place with a 145 (+3), followed by Diego Polo (Guatemala City, Guatemala) in 25th place with a 147 (+5).
Coker will now prepare for their next tournament at the Bobcat Invitational, March 23-24 in Lake Oconee, Ga.
