The South Carolina Taxpayers Alliance (SCTA) today announced that it was launching a 60-second television ad encouraging Governor Mark Sanford to accept South Carolina’s $700 million portion of federal stimulus funding.
“We agree with Governor Sanford that the stimulus legislation was a bad idea. But we lost that fight,” said SCTA Chairman Adam Fogle. “Now that the Stimulus Bill is law, if the governor refuses the funds, our share will go to other states and South Carolinians will still be on the hook to pay off the debt. That just doesn’t make any sense.”
The ad, entitled “Take the Money,” will begin running Wednesday along the coast and in the Florence area with the intent to run it statewide as the group continues to raise funds.
Fogle said he formed SCTA as a way to stand up for South Carolina taxpayers. It is a nonprofit advocacy group designed to give taxpayers a voice on major issues impacting their lives.
“I was inspired by the recent Tea Parties and wanted to do something to help fight for taxpayers,” said Fogle. “So I formed the South Carolina Taxpayers Alliance to empower average citizens like me and give us a voice on a number of important issues without fear of retribution from individuals in power.
“We chose the stimulus as the first of these issues because it directly relates to what is best for taxpayers.”

Isn't it curious that the SCTA is a "NEW" organization? Where does the funding for this "new group" come from? Is Mr. Fogle a registered Democrat? Who did he vote for in the 2008 election? Given that he's running expensive television ads, it's pretty obvious that this "new organization" is nothing more than a not-very-well-disguised effort by the government and its socialist leader, Obama, to try to force more government control over our lives.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the "new" SCTA ran the ads, spread over enough channels. I thank them for repeating the phone number and reminding me to call. Yesterday, I called and thanked the Governor for his position, letting his office know that I hoped he would stick firm. As a resident of SC since 1981 this whole "hostile takeover" of our Country causes me great concern.

I encourage every citizen who is concerned about Washington and Obama's entourage dismantling our Constitution and abusing our Nation's finances, making excuses for America while attempting to change the very fiber of this great Country. Everyone call and let our Governor know we're proud of him. Help stop the actions of a person who insults the Queen of England with an iPod and at the same time attempts implementation of a dictatorship. You can get the phone number from the SCTA ads. The SCTA should give that money to SC and keep just enough to move to a State where they can encourage polygamy, which will help them group together in a commune and stay out of South Carolina and America's way.
Where in the bill does it say that refused moneys will be redistributed? I am against the bill also but truth must be used to bare the foolishness of it.
ReplyDeleteHerb, I'm not sure I can answer your concerns but I'll give it a short shot.
ReplyDeleteIf we accept the money we have to pay it back in one form, method or another.
As for redistribution, The guy in Washington who is appointing "Czars" (in America? - does he know where he is?) ... either he or his democratic congress will distribute the money until the mint runs out of ink. SC's problems would occur just as those of GM, Chrysler - couple of banks along the way.
Governor Sanford does not want SC to be "owned" by anyone but the State's citizens.
I hope this is helpful. We do not need Obama's "monopoly" money. Perhaps we should consider the attitude of Texas.
Please understand - even if we don't accept the money our tax dollars will still go to help pay off the debt the administration is making. Our economy will suffer with the rest of the nation, unemployment will still haunt us ... but if I understand it correctly, we will not become equal to a TARP receipient.
