Avalon Communications Elevating Earth Day to Major Holiday Status

A new public relations campaign launched by Avalon Communications is shedding important light on a holiday that too often passes with little fanfare. A full-service public relations firm, Avalon is giving Earth Day 2009 the respect it deserves by making it the focus of its clients’ April publicity. Dedicated to working closely with its clientele in developing key messages, Avalon Communications saw much potential in helping its eco-friendly clients reach their target audiences through an Earth–Day-themed PR drive.

The Encarta encyclopedia defines Earth Day as “a day dedicated to the environmental health of our planet. It’s observed in the United States, Canada and many other countries around the world with programs designed to educate people about Earth’s environment and threats to the environment. Activities intended to improve the environment also take place” on the annual April 22nd holiday.

First observed in 1970, Earth Day originally had 20 million participants. Today, the participation rate in the event has grown to exceed a half billion individuals. If Avalon Communications has anything to say about the matter, that statistic will skyrocket even higher this year. The public relations firm’s Earth Day campaign is highlighting the environmentally endeavors of nearly a dozen businesses and individuals. In the process, it’s helping to spread the word about an often overlooked holiday that can make a genuine positive impact on the planet.

“When we realized how many of our clients encompass an earth-friendly approach, we knew we had to help them spread the word about their products, each one designed to preserve and protect the Earth,” explains Avalon’s director, Tricia Kent. “And what better time to get the message out than this year’s 39th annual Earth Day celebration? We are proud to partner with these companies that are doing their part to make Mother Earth a better place for everyone.”

Participants in Avalon’s Earth Day publicity campaign include:
For Earth, the maker of Force fuel and engine conditioner that reduces vehicle emissions
