Hartsville, S.C. - The Coker Lady Cobras were narrowly defeated by the nationally ranked #8 Francis Marion Patriots, 5-4 in women's collegiate tennis on Sunday afternoon. The win improves FMU to 1-0, with Coker falling to 0-1.
Coker's only win in doubles came at No.3 when Cassidy Spencer (Wilkesboro, NC) and Lindsay Crighton (Florence, SC) defeated Jessica Lombardi and Katie Cracraft, 8-0.
In singles, the Patriots picked up wins at No. 1 through No. 3, but the Lady Cobras managed three wins of their own, as freshman Stephanie Medley (Sumter, SC) won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4, while at No. 5 Ashley Pace (Clinton, SC) won 6-2, 6-4 and Crighton picked up her second win of the day at No. 6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Lady Cobras will now have a long break before returning to the courts on Saturday, February 14, when they travel to Converse College.
